Each day is a gift—attend a dinner to raise money for Pietro Scarso

He’s pretty famous for a three year-old; so far, multiple local newspapers and a TV channel have told his story—the story that has touched hearts, encouraging neighbors and local businesses to do more.

Pietro Scarso, from Bay Ridge, appeared on a local channel recently with State Senator Marty Golden, a firm supporter of his cause, who will be introducing a resolution in the New York State Senate in honor of this family’s mission and to bring about awareness of the condition from which Pietro suffers.

Pietro has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a disorder that has moved his parents Dayna and Manni to fight for their son’s well-being, organizing community fundraisers to raise money for a cure for the disease that affects one in every 350,000 births.

They’re excited about their upcoming event, to take place from 6 to 11 p.m. on February 21 at Ponte Vecchio, 8810 Fourth Avenue, a week after Valentine’s Day, which will be amongst their many efforts. Fifteen percent of the proceeds are to be donated to the non-profit organization they’ve created called Pietrosfight.org. For reservations, call 718-238-6449.

“Join Pietro as he feasts on his favorite dish Linguine and Clam Sauce as he carbs up before he weighs in for his big fight,” reads the flyer. The family pleads for everyone to come and join them in an attempt to raise even more money. The “big fight,” will be on March 7 at El Caribe, their anxiously expected first official fundraiser.

“Every local business has been completely amazing,” exclaimed Scarso. Gift certificates and items from all over the neighborhood have been donated. Bay Ridge Honda has even contributed a brand new 2013 Honda Accord to be raffled off March 7.

The Scarsos need your help. Mark your calendar and help them out by attending.
