An exceptional St. Pat’s fundraiser for the Guild for Exceptional Children

The Guild for Exceptional Children hosted a spring luncheon and gift auction at Gargiulo’s Restaurant in Coney Island on March 10, with the proceeds benefitting the GEC. The Guild, whose mission includes helping children and adults living with developmental disabilities lead dignified and satisfying lives, has hosted this event twice.

GEC board members celebrate the holiday and their cause.

“Over 380 people came, it was so well-received!” said Caroline Mansuetto, the Guild’s associate director of development. “Everyone who worked on the event did a great job; it was wonderful.”

The coordinators of the event, Celeste Sena, Mary Dory and Margaret DeVincenzo, worked hard to ensure the project turned out well, providing appetizers, salad, pasta, an entree, dessert, wine and soda to ticket-holders, who each paid $65 to support the cause.

Along with the food, there were prizes, from theater tickets to electronics.

Those in attendance were encouraged to wear their St. Patrick’s Day attire and according to Mansuetto, the festivities were a huge success.

“People had a great time celebrating the St. Paddy’s Day theme and it was very enjoyable,” she said.
