Happy tails go to Boggie Doggie

Pet supply shop Boggie Doggie had such success at its location on Third Avenue that it opened up another store on Fifth Avenue, right next to Leske’s Bakery.

“This location is more convenient for customers,” explained Teriza Alfy, who owns both locations with her husband and has two cats at home: Cookie and Shadow. The latest spot opened just before Christmas, 2012.

Boggie Doggie carries almost everything you can think of for your pet, including cats, dogs, birds and small animals. Alfy said that all of the food and treats they carry is holistic and organic. She also sells all types of clothes for your pooch – whether it be functional or for fashion, and carriers in all sizes, “for heavy or light pets.” There is also a wide selection of harnesses and leashes in all colors of the rainbow, plus comfy beds for dogs and cats.

“We also sell ultra-sound toys. You can’t hear it, but the dog can,” Alfy said. “Lots of customers don’t like noise. Plus, all toys, treats and food are made in the U.S. That’s very important.”

Boggie Doggie also has an anti-anxiety jacket for cats and dogs. “You put it on and they calm down,” Alfy said. “Some dogs are afraid of loud voices and thunderstorms.”

In addition, Alfy said she has a special relationship with her neighbor, Leske’s Bakery, who will make a birthday cake for your pup.

“We have a special promotion every week,” Alfy said, adding that sales this week include 100 Clear Quest Wee-Wee Pads for $19.99; 32 lbs. Multi Cat litter for $15.99 and $5 off every 30 lb. bag of dog food.

There are even pet-themed greeting cards for the furry friend in your life.

Boggie Doggie’s Third Avenue location is at 7401 Third Avenue and can be reached at 718-491-1399. Those store hours are Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The Fifth Avenue location is at 7616 Fifth Avenue and can be reached at 718-745-1177. Those hours are Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.
