All smiles with Dr. Bernstein

Dr. Paul Bernstein, D.D.S. has been providing dental service with a smile for the past 32 years.

Thirty two years ago, he went into practice with his father, who had been practicing dentistry in Bay Ridge since 1959. They worked together for 18 years until the elder Bernstein retired. The practice was run out of the Hamilton Medical Building for about seven years, until they relocated to their 91st Street office in 1988.

“I care about what I do,” Bernstein said. “I take pride in doing an excellent job and having people be more than satisfied with what we do for them.”

Bernstein practices general dentistry, including crowns and bridges; periodontal treatments; bleaching; tooth-colored and composite fillings; porcelain work; root canals and large reconstructive cases.

The office is equipped with a soft tissue laser for minor oral surgery procedures and a caring, friendly staff with two dental hygienists. The field of implant dentistry is a major area of focus for Dr. Bernstein. He personally performs both the surgical and restorative aspects of implant dentistry in his office.

He currently teaches at New York University’s continuing dental education program, instructing other graduated dentists in the surgical and restorative aspects of implant dentistry.

Bernstein is also a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, a Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantology, a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology and a clinical associate professor at the NYU College of Dentistry. He was also a former attending dentist at New York City hospitals, including Bellevue Hospital Center and Long Island College Hospital.

“I love what I do. It’s exciting to improve people’s health and enhance their smiles,” Bernstein said. “It makes them feel good about themselves.”

Bernstein has a device called the Dental Vibe that causes vibrations so there is less feeling when getting a dental injection. “Our patients’ comfort is a top priority for us,” said Dr. Bernstein.

“We have a lot of patients who have been coming here for decades,” Bernstein said, adding that some come from New Jersey, Long Island and Manhattan. “We are welcoming new patients.”

Bernstein’s office only works with one patient at a time, making the experience personal.

“We take pride in trying to make the patient as comfortable as possible,” he said.

Dr. Bernstein’s office is located at 350 91st Street. They can be reached at 718-833-9191. The office is open on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. There is on-site parking available.
