BRACA and Brooklyn Industries pair up to promote local art

The Bay Ridge Arts and Cultural Alliance and Brooklyn Industries teamed up to celebrate local art at a local store.

Teddy Vuong, multimedia graphic designer for Brooklyn Industries contacted Victoria Hofmo, president of BRACA, asking if she would be interested in an event promoting local artists, and she agreed without hesitation.

“It’s important to expose the community to the artists that live here,” said Vuong.

“Art exists everywhere,” agreed Hofmo.

Ridgeite, visual artist and graphic designer Michelle Farkouh’s artwork was displayed at the shop, featuring trendy and creative interpretations of city scenery.

Also being featured was ceramic artist Krystle Pietrafesa.

“It’s important to promote artists from all walks of life. Events like these bring together not only people from the art community, but people from the Bay Ridge community,” said Pietrafesa, as she worked on her latest piece in front of the store.

Producer of Regina Opera, Fran Garber oversaw Maxine Feldman, pianist and Richard Paratley, flutist as they performed selections from operas and Broadway.

“We bring arts to the people,” Garber said, “and by doing that, we are making people happy.”
