Food and fun in Bensonhurst

Families and friends strolled down 86th street on Sunday, June 9 as they enjoyed a street fair shaded from the sun by the subway above.

Festival-goers were greeted with a myriad of bounce houses and inflatable slides between 19th Avenue and Bay Parkway. As they processed down the street, there were tents containing all sorts of goodies, and with products ranging from pocketbooks to personalized t-shirts, there definitely was something for everyone.

“I love coming to this festival because my kids have so much fun,” said Maria H., who came to the festival with her two daughters, and toddler.

“I went to this festival when I was a kid, and I’m glad I can bring my kids here now,” said Ridgite Michael F.

It was also festival foodie heaven at the fair; offerings included grilled corn, gyros, spinach pie, Italian ices, and funnel cake.

“It’s a great way to start off the summer season,” said Bensonhurst resident Aadil U. “Everyone of every nationality around comes out because everyone loves zeppolis!”
