Love Kills Cancer Walk to benefit local tot

Come out on June 23 to run (or walk) for a great cause.

Three-year-old Cameron Kind was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, and has so far courageously undergone four rounds of chemotherapy at Memorial Sloan Kettering, but still has much more treatment to come.

Parents Christopher and Eve King were recently informed that a bone marrow match has been found, but there are still many medical procedures ahead.

“This got started after she was diagnosed, and when they were told there was going to have to be a marrow transplant, we knew the bills would start piling up,” said event coordinator Rob Casatelli.

Money raised at the Love Kills Cancer 5k Walk/Run will go to help with medical bills. The route will begin at the 69th Street Pier, with registration beginning at 9 a.m. The race will begin at 10 a.m., and end at the Park House on 97th and Shore Road.

The registration fee is $40 but kids under 13 are free. Runners will receive bagels, beer, a LOVE KILLS CANCER bracelet, and free admission to the after party. The party will be at St. Patrick’s Auditorium, at noon, and feature entertainment such as GEEZER, John Rafferty, Frankie Marra and His Band, and August on Sunday.

“We hope to bring some local artists in, and let the local people listen to their music. It will be a great time, for a great cause,” said Casatelli.
