Perfect your pitch with “The Singing Policeman”

An opportunity to unleash your inner songbird is coming to Brooklyn!

Join Daniel Rodriguez, more commonly known as “The Singing Policeman,” along with soprano wife Marla Kavanaugh as they offer vocal lessons with students over the summer.

Start Singing is a group designed to encourage people of all ages to share their voice with the world. The lessons will take place in a very non-intimidating atmosphere, where students will be given a chance to gain confidence as they hone their skills.

Master classes hosted by notable singers will be available, as well as beginners meditation and yoga classes, enabling singers to fine-tune their breathing techniques.

Rodriguez is a former NYPD officer, and served as a symbol of strength and hope in the aftermath of 9/11, delivering his stirring rendition of “God Bless America” hundreds of times. Rodriguez has four studio albums and two live from Europe recordings and performances worldwide.

Start Singing is still looking for a Bay Ridge home, but is accepting signups for a July 1st class. The sessions will be available for six months, and will culminate in a concert. The course is $40 per week per person, and will be running for six months. Space is limited!

Rodriguez will also be performing “God Bless America” at next week’s Top Women in Business event, held at the Brooklyn Bridge Marriott on Thursday, June 20.
