St. Athanasius celebrates a milestone

Children of all ages throughout the Brooklyn Diocese will be able to celebrate their faith in a whole new way at a youth rally that will be held by DeSales Media and NET Television along with St. Athanasius at the church, Bay Parkway and 61st Street, on June 21, beginning at 5:15 p.m.

Among the highlights are free rides, games, food and entertainment featuring celebrity performers, as well as the never-before-seen 3-D video, light and fireworks show by Steven Retas, Jr. and John Gonzalez of QAV.

The event – organized to mark the 100th anniversary of St. Athanasius Parish — will also bring to Bensonhurst special guest Joe Manno and his “A Fighting Chance” motivational speaking tour that has been endorsed by the Reagan Foundation.

“A Fighting Chance” gives a series of empowering talks for youths. Since 1989, Manno has been performing his comedic but inspiring, discussion revolving around drugs, violence, gangs, education and self-respect all over the country and parts around the world sharing his message and empowering youths.

DJs from Perfect Entertainment will be providing the music and there will be special live musical performances by electric dance music artists and MTV Music Video Award winners DaCav performing their hit song “Na Na Na” along with pop singer Reina, whose “If I Close My Eyes” topped out at number five on the billboard charts.

The evening events will be hosted by KTU’s morning show host Cindy Vero from “KTU Mornings with Cubby and Cindy,” along with international superstar D.J Skribbles.
