Ambulance flips under Gowanus, injures four

Four people were injured in an accident involving an overturned ambulance on Thursday, August 15 at 5:43 p.m.

A Midwood Ambulance somehow collided with another car and flipped over on the corner of Third Avenue and 61^st Street. Fire Department emergency service workers transported three people with minor injuries to Lutheran Medical Center.

Midwood Ambulance also transported a more seriously injured patient to another hospital.

When asked for additional information regarding the fourth patient, a spokesperson for the Fire Department told this paper to contact Midwood Ambulance directly.

It is not clear if there was already a patient being transported in the crashed ambulance or if the vehicle was rushing to a scene. The FDNY also referred that question to Midwood Ambulance.

A spokesperson for the ambulance company did not respond to repeated requests for comment.
