Barclays to co-host NBA All-Star Weekend 2015

It seems just yesterday that the Barclays Center was being christened by the sold-out Brooklyn native hip hop mogul Jay-z’s concert, and only a little over a year after its grand opening, the Barclays Center has booked another major event.

As if MTV’s Video Music Awards and music goddess Beyoncé’s concert weren’t enough to brag about in 2013, Brooklyn’s newest attraction has just been announced as co-host of the NBA’s All-Star Weekend 2015 events, sharing the festivities with Madison Square Garden.

“Barclays Center is proud to welcome such an exciting event as All-Star ’15 and to continue bringing the best to Brooklyn,” said Bruce Ratner, minority owner of the Brooklyn Nets. “We are delighted to join with New York City, the NBA and Madison Square Garden for a wonderful weekend. Basketball may have been invented in Springfield, Mass., but its heart and soul are in New York City, through and through.”

The weekend extravaganza will begin Friday, February 14 at the Barclays Center with the Skills Challenge, Rookies vs. Sophomore game and Legends Challenge, continue on Saturday with the three-point contest and Dunk Contest, also at the Barclays Center, and conclude on Sunday when the All-Star game will be played at Madison Square Garden.
