Ravens and Jets, Steelers and Saints clash in PYO action

The opening kick-off usually relieves the pre-game jitters but not in the recent game between the Parkville Youth Organization’s Ravens and Jets.

The Ravens were caught in the end zone, Matthew “Sure Thing” Sciarrone of the Jets made the tackle and the Jets were up two points.

The Ravens tried to bounce back when Geanfranco Pappalardi intercepted a Jets pass on the Raven 17-yard line. But the Jets’ defense refused to yield an inch. Anthony “A-Train” Barreira, Trystin “Grim Reaper” Tusa and Sciarrone led the assault and held the Jets’ line. The half ended 2-zip, Jets.

The first TD scored for the Jets was by Jasiah Raso after a punt recovery on the one. The Jets scored again with time ticking fast with Jasiah Raso hitting Dante D’Egidio with a 20-yard bullet, making it 14 – 0 Jets.

In the final play of the game, with 1:52 left on the clock, Raso kicked for two points, ending the game at 16-0, Jets.

Outstanding players on the Ravens were Andrew Diaz, Hassan Farraj (outstanding interception), Pappalardi, Alex Vega Jr. and Joshua Vega.

The Peewee Division was in great form, battling for a 12-6 Steeler win. Most of the first half was scoreless, with the Saints and Steelers fighting tooth and nail for Parkville turf.

Then, with 1:45 left in the half, Salvatore Miciotta broke away from two tackles and began his charge to pay dirt. He fought his way every step to put six points on the board for the Steelers.

In the second half, Miciotta went on a 35-yard trek to score again, giving the Steelers a 12-point advantage. The Saints got their wake-up call after Aiden Farley intercepted a Steeler pass on the 15 yard line. After moving the ball to the three yard line, Farley muscled his way to golden soil, giving the Saints six points.

Time ran out and the Steelers went home with the bacon and the 12-6 victory. Outstanding players in this game were Christian Morban, Dennis Urena, Thomas Fegan, JoJo Nardiello, Farley (Interception), David Figueroa and Miciotta.
