Three Brooklyn legislators are pushing for the passage of Brianas Law, which would require law enforcement agents in New York State to be retrained in CPR every two years.
On Sunday, February 9, Assemblymember Felix Ortiz, State Senator Velmanette Montgomery and Councilmember Stephen Levin stood on the steps of Borough Hall to express their support for the bill, currently before both the New York State Assembly and the New York State Senate. The bill was named for Briana Ojeda, an 11-year-old girl who suffered a fatal asthma attack, dying despite the response of an NYPD officer, because that officer could not administer CPR.Leave a Reply
