Street Talk: Do you think the speed limit should be reduced to 25 MPH?

Do you think the speed limit should be reduced to 25 MPH, as proposed by the mayor?

I’d say it would all around help school zones and shopping areas. As long as there are red lights, it helps too. Drivers seem to ignore stop signs. If it stops hurting people, it’s a very good idea.

I don’t really care either way. As long as it helps make the city better for the people walking the streets, it’s a good idea.

It may work and be a good idea. But only five MPH less may not make much of a difference. They should be more concerned with jobs and the economy. People are still hurting.

I think it’s a good idea. I got hit by a car in Staten Island by a drunk driver. It was a hit and run but they luckily caught her. It messed up my leg though. They should also make drivers be 21 and over.

25-30 MPH is not much of a difference if you hit somebody. But it might be a good idea depending on where it’s used. In busy areas like here, (86th and Fifth) it’s a good idea. For the more desolate areas, that’s way too slow though.

Yeah, it’s a good idea for protecting the people that are crossing the street. 25 MPH may reduce some accidents, especially in Bay Ridge.

That’s ridiculous. I have a degree in automotive technology. With all the advances in cars, it would be going backwards to go that slow. It would just create headaches, especially in a city like this.

Right here it would be a good idea, along with putting up signs that better enforce the speed limit.
