Northfield Bank and Reaching-Out team up for a good ‘cause’

It takes two!

Local food pantry Reaching-Out Community Service will benefit from a fundraising effort conducted by Northfield Bank at all of its nine Brooklyn branches during the month of March as part of the financial institution’s ‘Banking for a Cause’ charity program.

“Reaching-Out Community Services is grateful to Northfield Bank for conducting a marketing campaign ‘Banking For A Cause’ throughout its nine branches in Brooklyn this month for our organization,” said Thomas Neve, president of Reaching-Out. “We appreciate their financial support and efforts as we partner together to eliminate hunger in our community.”

Northfield Bank launched the charity in 2011. Every March, October, May and December, the bank chooses local charities to support and helps raise money to further their mission.

Northfield Bank is committed to making our neighborhoods a better place to live and work, stated Damien Kane, director of marketing for Northfield. Local charities like Reaching-Out Community Services are the backbone of our communities and we are proud to lend a helping hand.

“It is a way for us to be able to enhance our fundraising efforts under the Banking for a Cause umbrella,” added Marketing Manager at Northfield Bank, Ami Pejovic.

Neve as well as Reaching-Out members such as Kimberly Fasano, who heads up the not-for-profit group’s public relations, collaborated to make this joint effort come to fruition.

“Tom has received foundation money from (Northfield) and they’ve just always been a huge supporter for us,” said Fasano.

Reaching-Out provides services to low-income individuals and families through its food pantry and outreach efforts. The organization was on the ground in affected neighborhoods in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy, and each year hosts a holiday party for families it serves.
