Street Talk: Do you think cops should be cracking down on double-parkers?

Do you think cops should be cracking down on double-parkers?

It’s not right. They charge way too much money. They don’t consider the people. The economy is bad and people can’t afford such a large fee.

People need to drop off kids sometimes. But double-parked cars do cause lots of traffic. And maybe the rule would improve it.

Sometimes you need to double park because of an emergency. I need to get my medication from the pharmacy and it just takes a minute. And it’s tough to find parking on Fourth Avenue. But certain areas, it’s bad because with double-parked cars, you can’t see if other cars are coming.

I think they should give way more tickets to double-parked cars. Sometimes you obey the law by parking and you get trapped because of those cars. They should not allow double-parking at all. I’m all for it.

My take is there should be more emphasis and penalty for moving violations rather than the city enforcing double-parked cars because that’s more dangerous. The city just wants more money.

I don’t like it. I think they take enough money from us.

It’s a good idea. Not for the truck drivers that are working and making a living making deliveries to stores or homes. But regular cars that are double-parked should get ticketed.

The mayor did say he wanted to improve pedestrian safety. So it may help.
