Men’s Club of Bay Ridge holds its first annual luncheon

Hoping to make it the start of a new tradition, the Men’s Club of Bay Ridge and the Women’s Chapter held their first annual luncheon at the Bay Ridge Manor in an effort to raise money for the Bay Ridge Center which has been serving the area’s senior citizens since 1976. Members of the center were thrilled with the reception and the final result.

“It went spectacularly,” said Alex Conti, the president of the Men’s Club. “We had 75 people in attendance.”

The festivities during the day included a live DJ performance and five raffle baskets which were awarded to lucky prize winners, as well as food.

Conti was quick to point out that the successful event was a team effort. “I like to say it was a pleasure working for the Board of Directors [of the Bay Ridge Center] as well as Executive Director Marianne Nicolosi. It was a combined effort that made it successful,” he said. “The DJ, the organizations that came, and the donations we received, all those made it successful. If it weren’t for them, it wouldn’t have been.”

The Bay Ridge Center is a non-profit social service agency dedicated to helping older adults, many of whom go to the center daily to socialize and enjoy a hot lunch and various activities. The center also delivers Meals on Wheels to homebound elderly in the community.

“It was a terrific event. The food was great. Everyone had a great time,” said Conti.
