Frankie’s Mission scores a hole in one

There was an undeniable amount of energy as over 100 golfers went out to honor the memory of Frankie Loccisano at the Dyker Beach Golf Course during an event held to raise money to help families of children with cancer on June 9.Frankie Loccisano, born and raised in Brooklyn, was diagnosed with bone cancer and then leukemia at only 14 years old. Although he died at 17, Frankie’s spirit and courage are what inspire friends and family, as well as other families going through similar struggles.“To see so many people happy to be there and full of joy is so fulfilling,” said Camille Loccisano, founder of The Francesco Loccisano Memorial Foundation, aka Frankie’s Mission, and mother of Frankie, who wanted to help fellow children with cancer by creating a foundation once he was cured. “It was just incredible to receive so much support from the golfers.”The golf outing included a dinner reception, an award ceremony and live auctions.“We try to help families, one by one, with children who have been diagnosed with cancer,” explains Loccisano. “The financial situations that these families go through can be very overwhelming, and we make sure that the money that we raise goes directly to children with cancer.”For more information about Frankie’s Mission, go to frankiesmission.org.
