Contrary to what we relayed in a past column, 46th A.D. Republican Male District Leader and attorneyMarcus Mark Nussbaum will not be a contender for the GOP nomination to try and unseat Democrat incumbent Assemblymember Alec Brook-Krasny.

We joined State Senator Marty Golden and Assemblymember Nicole Malliotakis for another one of their Yoga in the Park free sessions at Shore Road Park. After a few preliminaries, instructors from 5 Boro Power Yoga had me, along with county Conservative Leader Jerry Kassar, a fellow columnist, and a large group of participants doing lotus and triangle poses, tree and awkward poses, downward and upward facing dogs and warrior poses.

It’s nice to see Brooklyn’s new Beep Eric Adams shares the enthusiastic hyperbole of former borough chief Marty Markowitz. One of Marty’s old signs along the Belt Parkway leading to the Verrazano Bridge reads Leaving BrooklynFuhgeddaboudit. Ditto, Hizzoner, also a fellow Brooklynite.

Back during the 25th anniversary of the opening of the Verrazano Narrows Bridge,First Sergeant Jimmy D. Lewis led the now-defunct 26th Army Band across what was then the longest suspension bridge in the world. Later in his career, he became the command master sergeant major at Fort Hamilton.Today, Lewis still puts on his uniform as one of the military instructors for the Army Junior ROTC Corps at Fort Hamilton High School.

Let’s hope when the bridge’s 50th anniversary occurs on or near November 21, 2014, JD will get another shot at marching across the span, perhaps this time with a color guard, group of ROTC cadets andFHHS’s famed marching band and hopefully, followed by thousands of pedestrians young and old, like they did when my wife Janet and I and our kids did it over two and half decades ago!
