Yoga in the park stretches one more month

Namaste!State Senator Marty Golden and Assemblymember Nicole Malliotakis have partnered with Yoga in Bay Ridge, a yoga studio on Fourth Avenue, and 5 Boro Power Yoga on Staten Island to bring free yoga lessons to Shore Road Park. The lessons, slated to end August 30, have been granted a longer life. The lessons began on June 24 and have attracted a mass of nearly 100 people each, ushering the lawmakers to add another two classes to the schedule.“We have been encouraged by the extremely positive response that these yoga classes in the park have received,” said Malliotakis. “September is still a beautiful time of the year in our parks, and with the start of school, and the end of summer, yoga can provide those with some much needed tranquil time.”Future free yoga classes will take place on Saturday, August 30at 9:00 a.m., Monday, September 8at 6:30 p.m., and Sunday, September 21at 12:00 p.m.The lessons are a great way “to unwind with friends and neighbors” in the warm, summer weather, Malliotakis said.“After a very long and cold winter, residents are looking for more and more opportunities to enjoy the outdoors,” said Golden. “I invite our community to take part in yoga, which is good for the mind, body and soul.”
