With obesity rates at an all-time high in the United States, a trusted weight loss program can be hard to come by, but for patients of Bay Ridge chiropractor Dr. Carey Skorski, it can be as simple as a walk in the park – or whatever else their personalized weight loss program calls for.
Skorski’s holistic health practice – Bay Ridge Holistic Healthcare at 9201 Fourth Avenue – is made up of both chiropractic and weight loss programs.
“We have patients who lose 20 to 40 pounds in 40 days, and we guarantee at least that,” said Skorski who graduated Life University in Marietta, Georgia in March of 1996 at the top of his class. Since then, the Brooklyn chiropractor — who 17 years ago bought the practice that he worked for in Brooklyn and turned it into an “all-natural” care center — has been changing lives for the better.
According to Skorski, Bay Ridge Holistic Healthcare has the most advanced technology to date for checking the body and “seeing what it needs.”
Bay Ridge Holistic Healthcare offers a comprehensive and detailed examination to check for subluxation with tests including advanced digital x-rays, computerized surface electromyography, digital range-of-motion testing, weight scale balance evaluation, and arm and leg length analysis, among others.
“We have a computer that checks patients for 2,800 different biomarkers, or the reason why somebody would be overweight or unhealthy,” said the doctor. “The computer checks things like the health of the organs in the body, the balance of hormones and neurotransmitters and it checks for toxins in the body.”
In addition, he said, the machine – which patients simply place their hand on – connects patients electronically to the computer, allowing Skorski and his staff to scan through their body for everything from nutritional deficiencies to allergies and infections.
And the test only takes 10 minutes.
“It prints a report that’s six or seven pages long with the patient’s weight loss program to follow,” said Skorski of the completely customized programs. “They’re 100 percent customized to the patient and no one would have the same program. The way the person gets better is customized to homeopathic remedies and nutrition plans fit for them.
“It’s amazing how many people come in, not only losing the weight but also coming in with diabetes and heart disease, and leaving with normalized blood sugar levels and normalized blood pressure,” said the doctor. “A lot of the patients after the program aren’t needing medications that they came in using.”
On top of it all, Skorski is still a chiropractor at heart.
“We also do corrective chiropractic care,” said Skorski, a board certified chiropractor in Bay Ridge for 17 years – 14 of which he’s also spent as a weight loss expert. “The difference between corrective chiropractic care and regular chiropractic care is that when a patient comes in for an evaluation, we x-ray their spine and, every three months, we take a new x-ray to see the changes over time, and see the spine come back into proper alignment.”
The office offers spinal screening, rehabilitative exercises, massage therapy, lifestyle advice, auto accident care, and more.
“We also teach corrective exercises so that patients can spinal maintain at home,” Skorski said.
According to the New Jersey native – but Bay Ridge resident – his practice is only gaining speed.
“We used to see about 100 patients a week and now we’re up and over 300 a week,” Skorski said, stressing that patients interested in weight loss can stop by the practice for a free in-office review of the system. “They can come in and learn all about the program before they would actually have to pay anything.”
