Sunday, October 5, saw the Second Annual Youth Fashion Show and Luncheon for the Metropolitan Society of Kardamylians (MSK).
Well over 100 members and friends of the MSK attended the show at the Rex Manor, 1100 60th Street, to welcome the youth to the organization.
“We wanted to introduce the next MSK membership generation, ages two to 13 years old, to the entire MSK, nationally as well as internationally,” Said MSK President Captain Nicholas Skarvelis.
However, the luncheon was not just to welcome youth to the society, said Skarvellis.
“While the youth were to beĀ featured, it was also decided that the living MSK Ladies who in the past have tirelessly worked hard and have been unselfish should be honored,” Skarvellis explained.
Several women were honored at the event, including Maria Countouroudas, Despina Deligiannis, Aliki Kafantaras, Irene Kefalas, Irene Madias, Lambrini Mellis, Maria Notias and Irene Tsevdos.
The show also served as a fundraiser and all proceeds contributed to the MSK’s scholarship fund, which supports candidates every year.
“Over the next five years, we hope to build a scholarship fund of $100,000 or more,” said Skarvellis. “We would also like to implement a National Network Directory to assist young adults to develop a career path to success and to provide meaningful support for the Agia Marina old age home in Kardamyla.”
