City Comptroller to audit four charter school groups

Comptroller Scott Stringer wants “to make sure that taxpayer dollars are being used appropriately and that proper controls are in place” at Success Academy, New Beginnings, Merrick Academy and the South Bronx charter for International Cultures and the Arts.

Both Success Academy and New Beginnings have schools in Brooklyn, many of them housed inside public school buildings along with one or more other traditional schools.

Stringer stated the schools being audited were randomly selected based on geography and data available for review.
