Police Beat: 68 and 62 Precincts

68th Precinct

Between Monday, December 15 and Sunday, December 21, the 68th Precinct received reports of three burglaries. The 68th Precinct serves Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights and Fort Hamilton.

WINDOW DRESSING

On Friday, December 19 between 4:30 and 9:45 p.m., between Ovington Avenue and 11th Avenue, a victim told cops that an unknown perp entered his apartment through his bedroom window and removed approximately $200.

JEWELRY HEIST

On Friday, December 19 between 2:30 and 10 p.m. inside a home near 92nd Street and Ridge Boulevard, a victim told cops that an unknown perp entered his home, possibly through the front door, and removed $5,800 worth of jewelry.

RUNNING WATER

According to cops, an unknown perp allegedly entered a construction site and stole a DEP water meter at Ridge Boulevard between 90th and 91st Street, between 6 p.m. and 9 a.m. sometime between Thursday, December 18 and Friday, December 19.


 

62nd Precinct

Between Friday, December 19 and Monday, December 22, the 62nd Precinct received reports of three grand larcenies, one robbery, and one felony assault. The 62nd Precinct serves Bensonhurst, Bath Beach and Gravesend.

TRUNK THIEF

On Friday, December 19 near 86th Street and 17th Avenue a person driving a corporate vehicle heard the trunk door rattle while driving at around 2:00 p.m. As the person went to check the back of the car, they noticed a bag, holding credit/debit cards, a cell phone, and a wallet, missing. No suspects have been apprehended.

BUILDING BRAWL

While leaving a building near 84th Street and 19th Avenue at 10 p.m. on Friday, December 19 after delivering food, a male victim was allegedly robbed by three perpetrators—two of them apprehended and one still at large. The perps surrounded the victim and proceeded to punch him and demand his keys and money. The victim sustained injuries and was taken to Lutheran Medical Center.

SHIESTY SHOPPER

On Saturday, December 20 at 6:30 p.m., a man told cops that he noticed property missing from his rear left pants pocket while shopping at an outdoor location near 86th Street and 23rd Avenue. The man did recall being bumped into from behind while he was shopping. The property stolen included a Border Patrol Identification card and a vehicle insurance card.

UNDERCOVER CRIMINAL

A perp posing as an officer made off with a man’s credit/debit cards, cash, and cell phone on December 21 near New Utrecht Avenue and 74th Street at around 4:30 a.m. The perp, described as a white male, told the victim he was an officer and asked for his wallet and cell phone before fleeing the scene in a black Chevy Impala with tinted windows.

DOMESTIC DISTRUBANCE

A woman told the police that her spouse, a white male, slapped her in the face and strangled her in their apartment near Avenue P and Dahill Road on Monday, December 22 at 10 p.m. causing swelling and disruption to breathing. Photos were taken at the scene and the perp fled prior to police arrival.
