Firefighters douse Bay Ridge blaze

There were no serious injuries as firefighters responded to a third floor fire at 267 Ovington Avenue, on Monday, December 1.

Calls came in at 11:48 a.m. according to the FDNY press office, to report the blaze at the six-story multiple dwelling building near the corner of Third Avenue.

FDNY officials said that “a lot of people self-evacuated” and that a total of five people had been evaluated with no major injuries. There were two minor injuries to firefighters who were taken to a hospital.

Units had the fire under control at approximately 12:21 p.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, according to the FDNY which told this paper that it wasn’t considered suspicious.
