Crashing into 2015

Early into New Year’s Day, two cars collided at the intersection of 17^th Avenue and 86^th Street in Bensonhurst.

According to a source, around 2:20 a.m. on Thursday, January 1, a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta collided with a brand new 2015 Honda Accord. The impact of the collision sent the Jetta out of control, causing it to jump the curb and crash into a nearby storefront.

Within minutes, NYPD, EMS and FDNY units were on the scene.

When police from the 62^nd Precinct arrived on the scene, the source said, they found that the driver of the Jetta was intoxicated and followed through with an arrest.

One person was injured and removed to a local hospital, while both vehicles sustained heavy damage as a result of the collision.

The Jetta was impounded by police as arrest evidence.
