Severed hand found floating in Gravesend Bay

A single hand was found floating near the shoreline of Gravesend Bay on Sunday, January 4, according to cops.

The limb, which police said appeared to have been submerged a long time, was discovered around 4:41 p.m. near Shore Parkway between Bay 46^th Street and Bay 48^th Street, close to the intersection of Bay 46^th Street and Cropsey Avenue.

Police arrived at the scene following a 911 call from someone reporting a possible crime.

According to cops, NYPD harbor units have conducted a search for the rest of the body. The incident is still under investigation and the medical epec xaminer will determine the cause of death.
