Civic-minded Sunset Park residents will be busy this month.
Among the events taking place in the neighborhood, Sunset Park Restoration’s Tony Giordano will host his next installment of Real Stories of Sunset Park on Wednesday, February 11 at 5116A Fifth Avenue. Fellow Sunset Park residents are welcome to attend and share their stories or just listen to others. The last event featured several vintage pictures of Sunset, along with discussing the significance of the neighborhood.
State Senator Jesse Hamilton will host a public form called “Step Up, Speak Out Sunset Park” on Thursday, February 12 at 6 p.m. at 4201 Fourth Avenue. Light refreshments will be served and residents are encouraged to attend and discuss various issues concerning the community. Among the topics of the evening will be ID NYC, local services and programs, government resources, job leads and civic engagement.
On Tuesday, February 17 at 6:30 p.m., a public hearing will take place at the Community Board 7 board room, 4201 Fourth Avenue, regarding a proposed 676-seat primary/intermediate school that would span 47,000 square feet to be located on the west side of Third Avenue between 59th and 60th Streets.
Then, on Wednesday, February 18, at 6:30, CB 7 will hold its full board meeting at the board office (same address as above).
