Beer for a good cause

There was fun on tap as, for the fourth year in a row, the Guild for Exceptional Children held its Beer Fest & Buffet fundraiser to support programs that help those living with developmental disabilities.

“The Beer Fest was a truly great event! I’m so proud of the GEC for continuing to be creative with fundraising events,” said Arlene Rutuelo, president of GEC’s board of directors.

The event was held on Friday March 6, at the Marine Park Golf Course.

Attendees sipped on international, domestic, craft and microbrew beers while enjoying a bounty of buffet foods, all for $50 a person.

“The GEC is grateful to our co-chairs Matt Dory and Tom Hoefel for their continued support,” said Associate Director of Development Caroline Mansuetto.

Founded in 1958, the GEC has dedicated itself to helping “children and adults living with developmental disabilities lead dignified and satisfying lives, reaching their fullest potential and assisting families in every step of their journey,” according to its website.

“I want to thank all of the guests that attended to support the GEC’s mission and for all the sponsors that gave above and beyond,” Rutuelo said. “See you all next year!”
