NYPD Officers Jason Schiavone and Pavel Mashkov of the 62nd Precinct were awarded Cop of the Month honors at the Tuesday, June 16 62nd Precinct Community Council meeting.
According to Captain Nelson Chen, the two officers were instrumental in catching several teens accused of harassing merchants along Bay Parkway.
“[One] officer was able to recognize the kid from a surveillance video and eventually was able to get a confession out of him,” said Chen.
On surveillance videos, released to the public in late April, the teens can be seen vandalizing store property, harassing the merchants and stealing.
The 62nd Precinct serves the areas of Bensonhurst, Bath Beach and Gravesend.
The meeting was held at the Finbar Center, Bath Avenue and Bay 20th Street.
