Beating Cancer in Heels: Do you re-inspire yourself?

Lately, I have been dealing with some writer’s block. Yes, life coaches have their moments of feeling very stuck too. If we didn’t, how could we ever relate?

I found myself being a little more in my head than I should be. This thinking started to make me doubt my writing skills that then led to a feeling of being defeated. When it came to putting my words down, no matter how many times I would sit at my desk and prepare to type away, I just couldn’t do it.

Feeling like too much time was going by, I started to think about the support I needed in this area. Shortly after I reached out to a mentor (thanks, Helen!). Doing so gave me a deeper understanding of the challenges that others experience with writing and how to try to overcome them. It felt great not to be alone with my feelings and to feel understood. It gave me more insight to help get me writing again but something was still missing.

Later that week, a friend from out of town put a song on for me that summed up everything I was feeling. I then realized that I was losing a lot of my strength because I wasn’t taking the time to re-inspire myself. The song “Read All About It” by Emeli Sande is the song I am speaking of, in case you were wondering. That’s one of the many gifts of music.

I realized that when I feel the most powerful and creative is when I make myself realize just how impactful one person can be to another. I didn’t want to take that away any longer. My fears are just like many others and in order to overcome it, I must face it. If I don’t, then who will hear my voice?

Whatever your goal may be, you must protect it, nurture it and more importantly, keep the passion alive. It’s just like any other kind of important relationship.

Keeping that passion alive is different for everyone. It takes many different elements to keep it going but reminding yourself of your true purpose I believe to be the greatest motivator of all. Now, does this mean a mentor and a powerful song will get you unstuck? No! However, that could be a good start.

You could be feeling like life has depleted your motivation or kicked you so far down you can’t see a way up, and perhaps it has. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t find your way out.

Your way out this time might be different. You might have to fight harder, crawl instead of walk, take longer than before or get knocked down again really to have a deeper understanding of how bad you want it all.

Whatever way your path twist and turns, remember the importance of your talents and that they are your calling. Keep finding new ways to re-inspire yourself.

Remember what got you to get back up before. Remember what you stand for and how it felt to share that piece of you with others. Think about how you can change a life just by sharing a part of you.

If you are still have a hard time, ask around. Ask the people who have been witnesses to your talents. Ask them how it made them feel. Small or big, noticed or not, good or not so good, we have all been given something special. How we discover it and how we use it is up to us.

Keep going, Coachee!

Your Life Coach,
Marlena
