New York Methodist Hospital (NYM) recently opened the NYM Medical Associates of Brooklyn Heights practice at 50 Court Street, on the border between Brooklyn Heights and Downtown Brooklyn. The new facility is built to house hospital specialists in cardiology, internal medicine, gastroenterology, general surgery, orthopedic surgery, urology and vascular surgery.
“More and more of the hospital’s patient population lives in the Brooklyn Heights/Downtown Brooklyn area,” said Jennifer Donovan, assistant vice president at New York Methodist. “We wanted to give those patients, and all those looking for medical care near Brooklyn Heights, an opportunity to access the hospital’s outstanding physicians and ambulatory care services in an outpatient setting nearer to home.”
NYM Medical Associates of Brooklyn Heights marks New York Methodist Hospital’s northernmost satellite facility in Brooklyn. Noted Anna Zmujdzin, R.N., nursing coordinator for the new site, “One of the great benefits of this facility is that a Brooklyn Heights-based patient who is about to undergo a procedure at the hospital in Park Slope can get almost all of the necessary pre-surgical testing done without traveling to NYM’s main campus. And the procedure rooms here can accommodate urologic testing, biopsies and other ambulatory procedures. An x-ray room is down the hall, and a nuclear imaging suite for cardiology procedures will also soon be finished.”
“Patients can walk in, receive the medical care they need, and be back at home before they know it,” said NYM internal medicine specialist Lidiya Markova, M.D.
Lauren Yedvab, senior vice president at NYM, commented, “NYM Medical Associates of Brooklyn Heights is just the latest example of New York Methodist’s longstanding commitment to serve communities throughout our borough.”
