New Yorkers wanted to test out new ferry seats

Starting Monday, September 28, the New York City Department of Transportation (DOT) is asking New Yorkers for their opinion of three styles of ferry seats being considered for the new class of ferries, currently in design with expected completion by 2019.

The trial seats – each created according to preliminary design specifications –are located on the second floor of the Whitehall Terminal in Lower Manhattan for rider survey.

“There is a lot of excitement about the new ferry class joining the Staten Island Ferry in the future, so we are raising the curtain a bit this week to demonstrate what seating could look like on the vessels,” said NYC DOT Commissioner Polly Trottenberg. “I encourage riders to share their thoughts with us in person or via our online survey.”

The public is encouraged to take the survey in person, at the Whitehall Terminal, or online at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SIF_seats.
