The gift of life is alive and well at Salam Arabic Lutheran Church, where, on Sunday, October 4, Ridgeites are invited to take part in the house of worship’s annual blood drive.
“We do this every year,” said Reverend Khader El-Yateem, noting that this year’s collection will take place from noon to 5 p.m. at the church, located at 414 80th Street. “We encourage members of the church and the community to come out and donate blood – to give the gift of life.”
Last year, El-Yateem said, the church garnered close to 45 pints of blood.
This year, organizers are looking to double it.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity to come, give back and just give something nice to the community,” said El-Yateem, “to those who need it most.”
Those who donate will be treated to a free gift and a hot meal.
Picture ID is required to donate.
