The power of women was felt on Thursday, October 15 as Maimonides Heart & Vascular Center partnered with State Senator Marty Golden to host a “Women’s Heart to Heart” symposium.
The event—held at the Bay Ridge Manor, 476 76th Street—educated women in attendance (all of whom were invited, by mail, to attend for free) on the impact of heart disease, including the signs and symptoms specific to women.
Attendees were treated to a free dinner as well as free heart-health screenings (which included carotid, thyroid, BMI and blood pressure tests), courtesy of Maimonides.
Maimonides President and CEO Pamela Brier welcomed guests before honoring Rebecca Nikonchuk, a heart disease survivor, with an award for “displaying courage in the face of adversity, and generosity in mentoring others who are battling heart disease.”
Guests were also treated to a “Healthy Heart” presentation by keynote speaker Dr. Inna Nelipovich, cardiologist at Maimonides.
