Brooklyn welcomes first babies of 2016

Welcome to Brooklyn, babies!

Four of the borough’s hospitals welcomed some sweet, new little ones in the New Year on Friday, January 1.

Baby boy Zayden Noel, born to mother Stephanie Diaz, was the city public health system’s first baby of 2016—born at exactly midnight at Coney Island Hospital (CIH).

“Coney Island Hospital is thrilled to have the first NYC Health + Hospitals baby born in 2016,” said NYC Health + Hospitals/Coney Island Hospital Executive Director Robert Hughes. “We are elated to be part of such a special moment for this family.”

New York Methodist Hospital was close behind CIH with baby boy Giovanni Navarro-Caraballo born at 12:09 a.m. to parents Tricia Navarro-Caraballo and Chris Caraballo.

NYU Lutheran’s first baby of 2016 was Layan “Lily” Khalid Kotb, born at 2:12 a.m. to mom, Taghrid Mohamed and dad, Khalid Mohamed Kotb.

Emily Sky Glazewski, born at 1:27 a.m. to Wioleta and Dominik Glazewski on January 1, was the first baby of 2016 at Maimonides Medical Center.
