72nd Precinct Police Beat: Two reports of gunpoint robberies

Between Wednesday, March 23 and Wednesday, March 30, the 72nd Precinct received reports of three robberies, one burglary and one grand larceny. The 72nd Precinct serves Sunset Park, Greenwood Heights and South Park Slope.

UNLUCKY SEVEN

An armed robber made off with only seven bucks, despite aiming a gun at his victim, on Tuesday, March 29 at around 10:30 p.m. Cops say that a 21-year-old man was walking towards Sixth Avenue and 41st street to pick up food when the unknown perp, described by the victim as a white Hispanic man, jumped out from behind a parked car, took out a black firearm, pointed it at the victim’s head and demanded both his money and his cell phone. However, the perp only ended up stealing seven dollars before fleeing towards Fifth Avenue.

HELD AT GUNPOINT

A pair of armed bandits stole approximately $290 from three victims, two of them Asian men, who were walking towards Seventh Avenue and 58th Street on Tuesday, March 29 at approximately 5 a.m. According to police, one of the two perps, described by the victims as black men wearing black masks, pointed a black revolver at the victims and demanded money. After the three victims handed over the cash, the perps fled westbound on 58th street, entered a car and fled the scene.

THREE STOOGES

Cop say that three perps entered a discount store at Fifth Avenue and 49th Street on Wednesday, March 23, at around 3 p.m., and tried to steal various items from the store. When three employees, two Asian men and a 49-year-old woman, tried to stop the theft, the perps attacked the trio, punching them in the head.

Police arrested one of the robbers, a 16-year-old male teen.

SHATTERED GLASS

About $800 worth of cash, credit cards and a wallet were stolen from a car parked at Seventh Avenue and 61st Street in the early morning hours of Wednesday, March 30. According to the police, the victim, a 29-year-old Asian man, had parked his car at around 2 a.m. When he returned to the vehicle at approximately 4:45 a.m., he discovered the rear passenger side window and broken and his property missing.

EARLY BREAK IN

Cash and gold jewelry were lifted from an apartment near Fifth Avenue and 44th Street on Tuesday, March 29, sometime between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. The victim, a 54-year-old Asian woman, told cops that an unknown perp broke into her apartment by busting the front door lock, and ransacked the apartment. In total, nearly $4,000 in property was stolen including a $2,000 gold watch, a gold necklace worth around $1,600, and $200. The victim also noticed scratches on the door frame.
