PHOTOS: Runners tour North Brooklyn during Dime McCarren 5K

Runners from every walk of life came out on Saturday, May 7 for the Dime McCarren 5K, produced yearly by NYCRUNS.

The event, which benefits the St. Nicks Alliance, hit the streets running in 2012 and has since become one of the most popular races in the borough, racing through North Brooklyn.

The race — sponsored this year by Dime Savings Bank of Williamsburgh — kicked off at the Greenpoint Beacon Center (424 Leonard Street) at 9 a.m. and hosted over 600 registered runners and walkers.

“Dime made a multi-year commitment to sponsor the run. Given Dime’s deep roots in the Williamsburg community, we knew this partnership was the perfect fit for the bank,” said Larry Kinitsky, senior vice president of marketing for Dime Savings Bank of Williamsburgh.

“The excitement and the energy throughout the event was fantastic,” he added. “We hope that, with great partners like NYCRUNS and the St. Nicks Alliance, we’ll be able to make this event even more successful. We’re so happy to be a part of it.”
