Embers Steakhouse – their spark makes them the ‘Best’

Embers Steakhouse in Bay Ridge has been a neighborhood staple since 1985. And new owners Omar and Fernando are making sure the family-friendly eatery remains as such for the next 30 years.

Having taken over a little more than a year ago, Tom, one of their valued employees, said that the duo has “kept the main staples and has added their own specialties and flavor.”

A prime example is the Tomahawk steak – a ribeye for two which is “selling very well.”

Omar and Fernando are involved owners, according to Tom – and that means a lot to both employees and patrons.

“Business is good, especially since they took over,” said Tom. “Maintaining what the clientele wants is very important so that we keep our returning customers happy – and make new ones.”

With a private room for parties, Embers is also the perfect place to host your next event, especially since what sets them apart is the freshness of their cuts of meat.

“The original owner opened a butcher shop next door in 1954,” explained Tom. “So even today, all our meats are fresh from the butcher shop.”

Maybe that’s why Embers, which now offers brunch on the weekends, is a two-time “Best Steakhouse” winner in the Best of Brooklyn competition.

“[Winning] is a privilege,” said Tom. “It shows us that the customers appreciate what we’re doing, and that the hard work of the owners and employees is paying off.

“Plus, putting our ‘A’ grade next to our ‘Best of Brooklyn’ is pretty cool.”
