Bay Ridge students were strolling with smiles on Friday, October 7 as St. Anselm Catholic Academy held its annual Walk-4-Education walk-a-thon.
Held to raise funds for the school’s technology program, the event had kids taking to the streets, walking all the way from the school on 83rd Street to Shore Road Park at 79th Street and Shore Road.
“The weather was completely on our side which made things great,” said walk Organizer Meg Owen. “Most of the children walked down to Shore Road and did a few laps around Shore Road and then we had a DJ, which was a lot of fun. It was a really fun day for them.”
The children were rewarded with a half day after the walk ended at noon, Owen said, adding that they had a blast dancing to the DJ.
“The money that was being raised is for a complete upgrade of the technology system in the school,” Owen said. “So it was really for a great cause.”
