Bay Ridge Greenmarket celebrates 10th birthday and official kick-off

The 10th annual Bay Ridge Greenmarket celebrated its official kick-off as well as a milestone anniversary in the Third Avenue and 95th Street Walgreens parking lot on Saturday, May 20 — just one week after its first day on May 13.

The market, which has been dubbed  “Bay Ridge’s Town Square” by Councilmember Vincent Gentile, is a collaboration between the pol and GrowNYC that showcases an array of producers selling everything from fresh-caught fish to baked goods.

“I am so excited to kick off our 10th year here at the Bay Ridge Greenmarket,” said Gentile. “The partnership between Walgreens and GrowNYC over the past decade has been fantastic. What started as a temporary measure to mitigate the loss of several local supermarkets has turned into a bona fide neighborhood institution that residents both new and native look forward to year after year.”

The market will feature — among vendors from across the area — cooking demos, seasonal celebrations and other various family-friendly activities throughout the summer and fall seasons.

“Whether it’s fresh-caught fish, baked goods, cheese, flowers, seasonal fruits or fresh vegetables – the Bay Ridge Greenmarket is the undisputed place to be on Saturday mornings,” said Gentile. “It’s why I’ve nicknamed it Bay Ridge’s ‘town square’ and why I’ve had my satellite office here for the past 10 years as well.”

The Bay Ridge Greenmarket will be open every Saturday between now and November 18 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Visit for more information.
