For over 50 years, the Ragamuffin Parade has brought joy to the children of Southwest Brooklyn. In its earliest years, a simple walk around the block where Our Lady of Angels was located by children dressed in their parents’ oversized garments, the event has morphed into a grand occasion in which a steady stream of costumed children parade along Third Avenue. In this photo from the files of this newspaper, the excitement has clearly been too much for one youngster, asleep in a wagon, captured by a long-ago photographer.
