CAR THEFT

A 29-year-old man learned the hard way not to leave his car keys inthe ignition.

The man returned from a run into his apartment to see someonedriving his gray 1998 Dodge Caravan eastbound on 55th Street,towards Seventh Avenue last Saturday, March 26. Police verifiedthat a car alarm was transmitted shortly after the theft.

RENTAL THEFT

A 48-year-old man came home from work last Sunday morning to find$7,500 in cash missing from his room, police said.

The victim told police that, as the room inside 574 40th Street isa rental, multiple people have access to it. There was no forcedentry, cameras or witnesses to the alleged theft.

GADGET ROBBERY

A laptop, white iPod and PlayStation 3 were taken from a30-year-old Sunset Park woman’s bedroom while she was at work onMonday, March 28, said police.

The alleged thieves gained entry to the apartment through a bedroomwindow.

KID DANGER

An 18-year-old black male was arrested last week in Sunset Park inconnection with the alleged robbery of a 13-year-old boy, policesaid.

The incident is reported to have occurred at around 8 p.m. onMonday, March 28, while the boy was skateboarding home near thenortheast corner of Prospect Avenue and Greenwood Avenue. The boysaid that two males approached him and told him, If you don’t giveme your phone, we will beat you up, before rifling through hispockets and removing his iPhone. No injuries were reported.

Police described the suspects as two black males, approximately5’8.

LOCK YOUR WINDOWS

An envelope with $1,200 in cash was allegedly taken from anunlocked Range Rover while the driver was fixing a flat tire alongFifth Avenue between 22nd and 23rd Streets, said police.

The alleged theft occurred shortly after noon on Tuesday, March 29.Police are attempting to access video surveillance in the area.

MECHANICAL FAILURE

Three individuals allegedly stole $3,700 worth of parts fromoutside Odyssey Mechanics at 760 Fourth Avenue last Tuesdayafternoon, employees told police.

The two males and one female grabbed placed the three items in theback of a black or blue SUV.

PHONE JACK

A 50-year-old man was arrested last Tuesday for snatching a cellphone out of a 55-year-old man’s hands as he walked down FourthAvenue towards 23rd Street, police said.

The phone was recovered along with Oxycodone, a controlledsubstance.

CREDIT CHARGE

A 40-year-old woman reported to police that someone had opened aCapital One credit card using her personal information and charged$2,800 to her name.

The account had been created in October, 2009 and stayed openthrough June, 2010. It wasn’t until now, the victim said, that shereceived word of the outstanding charges.

GRAND THEFT AUTO

A Brooklyn woman’s car was taken from its parking spot on WebsterPlace in South Park Slope and left vandalized in Queens last month,police said.

The 27-year-old woman had locked and parked her car on March 18before going on vacation. She received a call from the insurancecompany on March 28 stating that the car had been found vandalized.No alarm had been transmitted.
