Rape suspect sought in four cases of sexual assault and rape

The New York CityPolice Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifyingan individual wanted for three attempted rapes and one rape inSunset Park, Bay Ridge and Park Slope.

The suspect isdescribed as a Hispanic male in his late 20s, approximately 5’7”and weighing around 165 pounds.

The first incidentoccurred on March 20 at around 11:30 p.m., when a 24-year-old womanwas approached from behind by the suspect, who pushed her to theground and attempted to rape her on 16th Street, nearFourth Avenue. The woman was able to break free and fled, withminor injuries.

The next two attempted rapesoccurred on May 3 along Ridge Boulevard in Bay Ridge and May 29near 55th Street in Sunset Park, also at around 10:30 or11:30 p.m.. In both cases, the 32-year-old woman and 20-year-oldwoman were approached from behind, pushed to the ground andassaulted. During the May 3 incident, the woman was threatened witha knife and pushed towards a driveway. Both women resisted and thesuspect fled.

In the final incident, on June 4, a28-year-old woman was followed and raped in the vestibule of herapartment near 55th Street in Sunset Park, at around 3a.m..

The NYPD is askinganyone with information about the suspect in a series of sexualassaults in Sunset Park and Bay Ridge to call 1-800-577-TIPS(1-800-577-8477) or text “TIP577” to “CRIMES.”
