The gala event occurred June 18 at the Walgreens, 1511 86th Street,as elected officials gathered with store employees to make theoccasion.Among those present were Brooklyn Borough President MartyMarkowitz, State Senator Marty Golden, Assemblymember Peter Abbateand City Councilmember Vincent Gentile.The drugstore giant – which currently operates approximately 7,000stores – has its roots in a Chicago pharmacy opened in 1901 byCharles Walgreen in a 20×50-foot space.New drugstore opens in Bath Beach
