For four years, Japanese restaurant Fushimi has been serving upsushi – along with other Japanese-French fusion dishes — to thepeople of Bay Ridge. On November 20, the establishment celebratedits anniversary with a fundraising party for a good cause at itslocation on Fourth Avenue near the corner of 94th Street.
Every year when we host this celebration, we invite out loyalcustomers to join us, said Alicia Seah, assistant manager andevent coordinator, who added: Without them, we wouldn’t behere.
Among the guests at the event, which raised nearly $3,000 forthe Make-a-Wish Foundation, was Carlo Scissura, senior advisor forBorough President Marty Markowitz, who presented the restaurantwith a proclamation.
The event also included sponsorship from several Bay Ridgebusinesses. There was dancing from Beyond Dance, a fashion showfeaturing clothes from Jazz Clothing and a cake donated by JeanDanet Pastry. For Seah, the support from other local businesses wasthe highlight of the party.
What I really enjoyed is how all these small businesses in BayRidge actually work together for this event, she said.
