The Bensonhurst West End Community Council celebrated its 51st annual gala at El Caribe Country Club on March 22.
It went very well, we had food galore and everyone had a very nice time, said BWECC President Carmine Santa Maria, noting that there were over 400 guests.
Santa Maria gave out awards to several honorees. Man of the Year went to Victor Iacovano, assistant principal of I.S. 303. Woman of the Year was Connie Hamilton, principal of the Kingsborough Early College School.
Salema and Don Marbury, principal of P.S. 329 and parent coordinator at P.S. 18 in Staten Island, respectively, were named Couple of the Year. Parent of the Year went to Maria Di Graziano, vice president of District 21s Presidents Council.
Eddie Mark, chair of Community Board 13, was named Humanitarian of the Year. Educator of the Year was Harla Joy Musoff-Weiss, principal of P.S. 238. The Outstanding Student Activist Award went to Priscilla Consolo
The affair was fantastic, there was a DJ and the food was excellent a whole smorgasbord, said Sidney Schatzman, one of the attendees. The feel in general was outstanding.
