Malson’s brings 47th Street jewelry service to 86th Street

Shoppers walking into the newly opened Malson’s Jewelers on 86th Street are likely to see some familiar faces.

Barrington’s Jewelers may have closed, but its staff has partnered with Malson’s to establish the brand –which has been in the Kings Plaza Mall since it opened in 1970 — in southwest Brooklyn.

“We set out with a mission to bring a different level jewelry store to the Bay Ridge area,” explained Morris Esses, the store’s owner. “While in Barrington, we saw the need for a store with distinctive designs and great Swiss watch brands, such as Rado, Tissot, Gucci, Movado, Movado Bold and many others. We probably have the largest selection of engagement rings and bridal jewelry in all of Brooklyn.”

The new location is triple in size and now includes an upper level, filled with giftware by brands such as Michael Aram, Lladró, Swarovski and Baccarat. But don’t let all the sparkles intimidate you – the staff is just as friendly and knowledgeable as they were at the previous location. Plus, jeweler Nabil is still on hand for all your on-the-spot jewelry repairs.

“We offer so much more than we could at Barrington and so much more than other jewelry stores,” Esses said. “Bay Ridge deserves an upscale type of store, but with the same low prices that Barrington offered.”

Esses is a firm believer in giving back to the community. He donated gifts to Poly Prep’s annual auction. “He was generous from the get-go,” said auction organizer Rita Oussani. “What goes around comes around. I keep coming back and buying.”

Esses enjoys working with new and old customers. “If you were married 14 years ago and like your stone, but hate your ring, we can update it for you and modernize it,” he said.

Malson’s is celebrating with a special sale that will run through Mother’s Day — all watches and jewelry are 20 to 60 percent off. The store also buys back gold, silver and diamonds.

Malson’s Jewelers is located at 464 86th Street and can be reached at 718-491-6666.
