It was a clear and cool Wednesday evening at Grand Prospect Hall in Park Slope on April 18 – the perfect weather and location for a glorious night of mingling and eating at the first ever A Taste of Fifth food sampling extravaganza, hosted by the Park Slope Fifth Avenue Business Improvement District (BID).

Over 450 people gladly shelled out $38 to taste everything from rotisserie chicken and BBQ ribs to shepherd’s pie, sushi, and red velvet cake, all brought by over 40 different local restaurants and businesses, including Blue Ribbon, El Pollito Mexicano, Dizzy’s, KiKu Asian Bistro and Sushi, Chip Shop, Baluchi’s and Stone Park Café.

Entertainment was provided by the M.S. 51 Chorus, Puppetry Arts and a live deejay and dancers, making the night a truly neighborhood-focused event. Even better was the fact that $20 from each ticket sold went to a Park Slope nonprofit of the ticketholder’s choice: Brooklyn Arts Exchange, Brooklyn Pride, I.S. 51, Puppetry Arts, The Fifth Avenue Committee, Old Stone House and Washington Park, and the Park Slope Fifth Avenue BID.
