A 40-year-old New Jersey man was killed on the afternoon of Saturday, May 12, after the SUV he was driving collided with an MTA bus and crashed into a utility pole.
According to Deirdre Parker, a spokesperson for the MTA, at about 1:30 p.m. a B70 bus was stopped at the traffic light at 92nd Street and Seventh Avenue. A vehicle driving southbound on Seventh Avenue somehow struck the bus, hit other vehicles and flipped over.
Police told NBC News that the driver, Adam Nicholson of Manalapan, was driving the Chevy Trailblazer that then hit a utility pole. The driver was killed instantly and his three-year-old daughter, sitting in the back seat, was taken to Lutheran Medical Center. No one on the bus was injured.
